School counselling staff are members of the schools learning and support team.
Who are they? Our School Counsellors are Steve and Vicki
When are they in school? Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and some Wednesdays.
Where are they located in the school? Their office is opposite the staff common-room just off the main school quadrangle.
How do I refer myself/student/young person? A student can get a referral to see a school counsellor through:
- A Teacher
- Their Year Advisor
- The Head Teacher Welfare
- Deputy Principal
- School Principal
- Or by Self referral
- Parent/Caregiver
A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team. As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service. Students can also self-refer to the service.
The school counselling service can:
- support students who are worrying about school work, friends, getting in trouble at school or feeling down
- help parents and carers make decisions about your child’s education
- assess a student’s learning and behaviour
- help teachers and students identify and address disabilities that may affect learning
- liaise with other agencies regarding student wellbeing.
School counselling is confidential.
For more information about learning and support teams and the school counselling service, please contact your school.

School counselling service
The NSW school counselling service contributes to student wellbeing in NSW public schools by providing specialised psychological assessment, counselling and intervention services.
As well as having a specific role in providing psychological services, the school counselling service contributes to student learning and wellbeing outcomes through membership of school based learning and support teams.
Every student from pre-school to Year 12 in NSW public schools is able to access the service.
The School-Link Memorandum of Understanding (PDF 1079.05KB) provides a framework for a collaborative approach by the department and NSW Health to improve the mental health of students (Note: This resource does not currently meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements.
